Green Vegetable

Divya being the only girl child in the family was pampered .She never used to eat vegetables. Every day, like always she gave her lunch to the street kids playing on the roads. While not valuing the importance of the food prepared at the home, she noticed that at the age of 16 her hair was turning white and her energy level was low as comparing to other kids. The doctor clearly asked her to have lots of green vegetables in her meal but she did not heed up to the advice and end up being in hospital one day. As she was recovering from her ill health, she peeped out of the hospital window and saw a street kid of her age begging for the food, that bought tears in her eyes and she realized how she gets whatever she wants easily while street kids of her age have to beg for it. She promised to herself that from now on she would not waste the food given by her mother and also she asked her mother if she could help these kids.
Her mother informed of an NGO called Akshaya Patra Foundation. It is a not-for-profit organization headquartered in Bangalore, India. The organization strives to fight issues like hunger and malnutrition in India. By implementing the Mid-Day Meal Scheme in the Government schools and Government aided schools, Akshaya Patra aims to fight not only hunger but also to bring children to school.  While telling about the NGO she smiled and said we do donate to this organization for long time.
Divya said no mother from now on I will save some money from my pocket expenses and would donate to them as I realized the importance of food now. The parents were happy to see changes in Divya
